Panerai Luminor series "Time Equation" PAM00670 Titanio watch

In 2015, Panerai first introduced the equation of time to its Luminor series. Although it is certainly not the most useful feature on the market, it is undoubtedly a very topical feature. Fortunately, this watch with a case diameter of 47mm also has some other practical functions: day and night indication, date and month, powerful luminous display and ultra-long 8-day power reserve, so that it will not appear too detached actual. So next, the editor will introduce this model PAM00670 carefully for everyone.

It should be said that Panerai has only appeared in front of the world as a civilian watch brand since 1998. Although it has a fascinating history before, it is mostly linked to the military world. Panerai is famous for its luminous tool watches designed and built for the Italian Navy and the X Flottiglia MAS, a team of frogmen who drive "Pigs" man-made torpedoes Destroy the enemy ship. In the early days, Panerai mainly provided precision instruments such as depth gauges, compasses, replicas rolex sighting devices, and timing fuzes for underwater detonators for use by the Italian Navy. Later, the brand began to develop luminous watches for it.

Luminous is Panerai's trump card. Now the two watch series that form the cornerstone of the brand are named after the luminous material they use: Radiomir is derived from radium and Luminor is derived from tritium. The Radiomir watch has a bulky 47mm cushion-type case, which has been modified many times at the request of divers, and by 1940 it had an iconic appearance. Ten years later, Luminor appeared, it has a similar appearance to the former, but equipped with a unique bridge to protect the crown to ensure reliable waterproof performance, and this design later became the icon of the series.

In 2015, Panerai added the time equation function to the Radiomir 1940 and Luminor 1950 models. The so-called time equation is a function used to express the difference between true solar time and average solar time. So what are true solar time and mean solar time? The former is the time interval formed by the actual movement of the sun, while the latter is the actuated time used by humans today. Although the two are calculated based on different orbits, they do not drift away from each other. Instead, they are sometimes close to each other, sometimes estranged, and sometimes converge. The reason for these differences is that the earth's orbit around the sun is not a circle, but a shape similar to a kidney, so its orbiting speed is different due to the change of its path, every year on April 15th, On June 13 or 14, September 1, and December 24 or 25, the two parties will reach synchronization, that is, all are 24 hours a day, while the rest of the days are more or less different, November 3 The maximum negative difference was 16 minutes and 45 seconds, and the maximum positive difference was 14 minutes and 21 seconds on February 11.

The time equation function shows how many minutes need to be added or subtracted from the average solar time to get the true solar time. On the dial of this PAM00670 watch, you can see that the 6 o’clock linear groove is marked with a scale of -15~+15 minutes, which will be automatically set when the watch adjusts the date and month. Obviously, it can't help much when you dive, but it can be a good starting point when you strike up a conversation on the shore.

The case of this watch has a diameter of 47mm. There is no doubt that the small wrist is a bit hard to make, but fortunately, it is made of titanium alloy material, so it will be very light to wear. If your wrist has 18 Cm or more, then it will look symmetrical and beautiful after wearing this watch. Its bezel is polished, the base is treated with a brushed process, and the darker tones of titanium and the eye-catching blue dial complement each other. In addition, the sand-gold hands and time markers are in sharp contrast with the dial, which greatly improves readability. One of the most notable features of Panerai watches is the "sandwich" dial invented in the 1930s. Since it has been introduced too many times before, I won't repeat it here. For this PAM00670 watch, it is obvious that in addition to the iconic laminated time scale, the pointer and the dot indicator of the time equation module are also coated with luminous material.

Other complications include GMT time, a small seconds dial and day and night indicator placed together at 9 o'clock, a month indicator at 3 o'clock and a calendar window at 4 o'clock. GMT time is indicated by the arrow pointer on the central axis. However, the 24-hour scale is not shown here, and the wearer can use it with the day and night indicator window. The GMT function is adjusted by the crown, and the local time (main hour hand) will move in units of one hour. I can understand the brand's practice of setting a dial with another face on the right side in order to pursue symmetry, but at the same time, I also want to know how useful the analog month can be? Isn't this design good to replace it with GMT time display? The Calibre Cal.P.2002/E inside this PAM00670 watch was developed in Panerai’s new workshop (2014) in the suburbs of Neuchâtel. It is a manual winding Movement. It is assembled from 247 parts, uses 21 jewel bearings, and has a thickness of 6.6mm.

Due to the design of three barrels in series, this not only ensures the stable transmission of power, but also provides a power reserve time of up to 8 days. However, the wearer does not have to worry about remembering the winding time by mistake, because the power reserve indicator window is intimately set at the splint. Its swing frequency is 28800 vph, which is rare for a watch with such a powerful dynamic storage.

The movement is also equipped with a second hand reset mechanism, which can be triggered by pulling the crown to the second-order position. It will reset the second hand to the zero position, which allows the wearer to set the time more accurately. Just like all Panerai's own movements, the polishing of this movement also has a strong industrial atmosphere. The cutting and arrangement of the splint is very interesting, and its characteristic is the large area of diamond polishing and chamfering.

The combination of the gray case and the blue dial, coupled with the embellishment of golden elements, gives this watch outstanding charm, just like the uniform of a navy officer, clear and handsome. Although it is impressive that many functions are gathered on a dial, relojes replicas aaa its weight is very light. It is true that the time equation is far less practical than GMT, but it is undoubtedly the best theme to break the cold scene with a faintly poetic atmosphere.

The 16.jpg brand matched this PAM00670 watch with a dark blue alligator leather strap, embellished with beige stitching. Its price is 21,000 euros (including sales tax), which is not cheap, but still desirable.
