Louis Erard - Excellence Regulator Aventurine, Lapis-Lazuli and Malachite

Louis Erard keeps demonstrating remarkable skills in the integration of artistic craftworks in its timepieces.

We recently wrote about their models with enamel and guilloché dials. This time, the focus is on the creation of fine stone and artisanal glass dials.

Using the typical layout of the Excellence Régulateur model, with the hours counter at 12 o’clock, the central axis bearing the minutes hand only and the seconds hand sub-dial at 6 o'clock, the Swiss brand is presenting three limited editions, replika órák each comprised of just 99 pieces, in Aventurine, Lapis-Lazuli and Malachite.

Their dials have two levels with the material being cut to reveal the regulator's snailed opaline dual counter.

The Excellence Régulateur Aventurine ref. 85237AA32 features a dial made of dark blue aventurine, a material distinguished by its translucency and the presence of sparkling mineral inclusions that bring to mind a starry night. It takes its name from the Venetian "a ventura" meaning "by chance". In fact, it was accidentally discovered by a glass-blower in Murano.

The Excellence Régulateur Lapis-Lazuli ref. 85237AA35 is characterised by the bright azure colour of this metamorphic rock dotted with silicate inclusions.

The Excellence Régulateur Malachite ref. 85237AA39 has a vintage touch. In fact, this stone was often used in luxury watchmaking in the 1960s. Its patterned coloration in shades of green makes this gem truly unique.

Housed in 42 mm x 12.25 mm stainless steel cases that guarantee water-resistance up to a pressure of 5 bars (50 metres / 165 feet), all models are powered by the self-winding regulator-type Sellita SW266-1 calibre visible through a transparent sapphire crystal porthole. Beating at the frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), it offers 38 hours of power reserve. The openworked oscillating weight of this élaboré grade movement is decorated with the Louis Erard symbol.

Each watch has a matching calf nubuck leather strap with tone-on-tone stitching: "Deep" blue for the Excellence Régulateur Aventurine, “Oceania" blue for the Excellence Régulateur Lapis-Lazuli and "Basilico" green for the ’Excellence Régulateur Malachite. These new limited edition models are attractively priced at CHF 2,900.

Mondaine Stop2Go Swiss Railways Watch – Generation 2

Virtually all of the watches Mondaine produces are visually inspired by the famous clocks that can be found throughout Switzerland’s railway stations, although the Stop2Go model holds a special place in the Swiss brand’s catalog, as it is the only one that actually emulates the unique motion of the clocks’ hands. With that in mind, although Mondaine has been producing wristwatches with this same core design since 1986, the Stop2Go is a more recent addition, with the very first execution appearing only slightly more than a decade ago in 2013.
