Hands-on with the Omega Seamaster ETNZ Chrono

While Omega’s new Globemaster range was one of the brand’s more discussed launches at this year’s Baselworld, its latest Seamaster Chronograph edition for Team New Zealand (ETNZ) was probably one of the most overlooked new releases — which is reflected by how difficult it still is to find official information about it. Fortunately, we at DiveIntoWatches.com had the chance to briefly handle one of these watches at Omega’s HQ in Bienne. Hence, orologi replica this photo-heavy essay on it for this week’s edition of Dive Watch Wednesday: Earlier ETNZ versions were powered by Omega’s Caliber 3330, and limited to the same number as the year in which the watch was released (e.g., 2,013 for the 34th America’s Cup in 2013), so it’s probably safe to assume that we are dealing with similar specs for this watch (unless there is both a limited and an unlimited version). Also, we can assume that the 44-mm watch will most likely be dedicated to the 35th America’s Cup race in 2017, and that the ...

The IWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month Edition “75th Anniversary”

Sometimes, I talk too fast and too much, especially when I’m holding an incredible timepiece in my hands. My problem is that when confronted with something stimulating, the words in my head effervesce and brim over like Champagne emanating from a bottle held aloft by a victorious motorsports champion. I struggle to contain my enthusiasm for horological matters. When I am excited, the alacrity of my speech gains momentum, adopting a staccato style and becoming barely decipherable as it reaches a crescendo. The passion I have for fine watchmaking is manifest with energetic speech and animated non-verbal behavior. Indeed, I would make a hapless poker player, such is this open disclosure of my inner thoughts. Part of my problem is that my brain tends to over-process thoughts, working faster than the mechanics of speech will allow. Ironically, this is the exact opposite to the norm, where people typically use “filler” words such as “um,” “so,” “like,” and “well” to fill the silenc...

7 Personalized Watches Made for World Champion Athletes

With baseball season heating up and the NBA and NHL finals underway, we at WatchTime thought it would be the perfect time to re-post (with a few updates) our article on the elite fraternity of replika órák  athletes who have not only won a world championship in their sports but also boast a watch made specifically for them. Here are seven notable watches of champions. Randy “The Big Unit” Johnson won baseball’s World Series with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2001. A longtime watch lover, particularly of the Ulysse Nardin Freak, Johnson partnered with Ulysse Nardin in 2012 to create the limited-edition Big Unit Chronograph. The personalized watch has a tiny baseball as the counterweight of the central seconds hand, and Johnson’s number “51″ replaces the typical “50″ minute marker on the bezel. Each watch is delivered with a baseball autographed by Johnson. More details on the watch can be found by clicking here. The L.A. Lakers’ Kobe Bryant, who has won multiple NBA championship...

Hands-on with ZRC Grands Fonds 300

First, the bad news: it doesn’t look like French brand ZRC is planning to sell its recently introduced re-edition of the Grands Fonds 300 outside of France, which might result in your having to find a retailer willing to contact ZRC directly, or planning a trip to France, if you are interested in getting one. The good news (I guess) is that this might save you quite a bit of money, rolex replica since the more desirable W510013 model, with the large set of hands, retails for 3,390 euros. However, if you’re still determined to lay out the cash and jump through the logistical hoops to acquire this timepiece, which is understandable considering the final product, here is — as promised in last week’s Dive Watch Wednesday — what you need to know about this rather unique looking diver from the past with the crown positioned a 6 o’clock: First of all, the new Grand Fonds is extremely close in its design to the original, which was introduced in the 1960s and served as a watch for the Fre...

Reviewing the Hublot Big Bang Ferrari Speciale Unico Ceramic

While Hublot celebrates 10 years of the iconic Big Bang line with a series of 10 unique haute joaillerie Big Bang Unico creations priced at $1 million each, the brand is also releasing a new Big Bang Ferrari Speciale model which is definitely more suited for everyday wear. Available in two editions, black ceramic with red, white and blue details, or gray ceramic with gray and white details, replicas patek philippe it pays tribute to one of the very best of the Cavalino Rampante’s creations: the Ferrari 458 Speciale. Scroll down to read the review from Monochrome Watches contributor Robin Nooy. The Hublot Big Bang Ferrari Speciale Ceramic, in either of the two color options, is still a very outspoken watch, not least due to its size. It is not a watch for gents who prefer to fly under the radar. When you consider the car that served as its inspiration, this shouldn’t be a surprise: both are quite ostentatious creations in their own right. The car that inspired the Hublot Big Bang ...

Franc Vila Launches the Intrepido Diver Superlight

We at DiveIntoWatches.com recently discovered another new dive watch for 2015 that we somehow didn’t catch when we were in Baselworld. The Franc Vila Intrepido Diver Superligero (Ref. FVi62) is the indie brand’s first attempt at creating a model with a divers’ bezel.  The watch comes with a titanium case offering 300 meters of water resistance, an integrated helium release valve, a display back and a black rubber strap with folding clasp. Both color versions (with blue or red highlights, pictured below) are available with a black DLC or regular brushed finish, and each is limited to 88 pieces. The rotating bezel appears to be operated by a separate crown at 4 o’clock (although it looks like it could be operated manually as well, replicas de relojes since it is only partially covered by the case) and can be blocked with the locking mechanism at 8 o’clock. Surprisingly, the hands seem to be made of a transparent material. The Franc Vila Intrepido Diver Superligero is powered b...

Legendary Divers: Watch Spotting at the German Historical Diving Society

Last weekend, the German Historical Diving Society held its ninth annual meeting in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse, with participants from all over the world. Some of them worked at Comex, others have a military background, and most of them are collectors of vintage dive gear – but most of all, they all share a unique passion and dedication to document and preserve the history of diving. As one of the society’s Swiss members, diveintowatches.com was invited to give a presentation on the historical aspects of watches underwater, and we couldn’t have found a better audience for whom to do so: a vintage Omega Ploprof, a Tudor Pelagos, a Seiko “Sumo,” an Omega Seamaster 300 “Bond,” a lovely Dugena Caribbean, a Sinn UX, an Oris Aquis and even a Benthos were spotted among members of the audience — and all of them, we found, replicas relojes were heavily used for their intended function. The most special discovery at the meeting? The Omega Ploprof pictured above is still regularly being us...

Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar Retrograde Date Hand, London

I am a Lancastrian. I was born in Blackburn, a locale once synonymous with cotton weaving. In the late 18th Century, the advent of the industrial revolution saw Britain become the world’s biggest producer of cotton. In particular, by 1860, Lancashire’s “dark satanic mills” were responsible for producing half of the world’s cotton supplies. Despite the cotton-weaving industry suffering decline during the 20th century, culminating in its extinction, remnants of Lancashire’s former commercial success remain. A small percentage of the mills still stand, replicas omega though today these monolithic structures have been adapted for a multitude of purposes, and continue to remind locals of the region’s history. The neighboring county of Yorkshire sits on the eastern side of the Pennines, a series of hills that resemble vertebrae, dividing northern England into two halves. This county shares Lancashire’s rich history of manufacturing textiles, again formerly producing cotton, but also cr...

The Modern and Vintage Omega Speedmaster Mark II

Every Tuesday on my website,we tackle a topic related to Omega Speedmaster watches. This article comes to us from the “Speedy Tuesday” archives, and focuses on my opportunity to review, compare and contrast the modern Omega Speedmaster Mark II with its vintage predecessor from 1969. After the Omega Speedmaster Professional won the race to the Moon in 1969, Omega thought it was time to come up with a watch that was perhaps a bit more up-to-date and ready for the 1970s — design-wise, that is, as the watch would still need to handle the same abuse as the Speedmaster Professional “Moonwatch” could. Sometime in 1969, replicas omega introduced the first Speedmaster Mark II, which was actually a Speedmaster Professional Mark II. (For non-native-English-speaking readers: the “Mark” in the name stands for a new or revised/improved version; it is similar to calling something a “2.0 version” these days.) The Speedmaster Mark II came with the same Lemania-based movement as the Moonwatch, Ref...

3 Ways to Safely Store Your Watches

If you have more than one watch, you essentially have a watch collection. So what do you do with your other watch (or watches) when you are leaving home or will be out of town for a couple of days (or weeks)? Allow me to offer a few options for safe storage of any watches you’re not currently wearing, to ensure that your precious collection is not subject to burglary, fire, or other loss. 1. Bank Deposit Box Most banks offer a service in which you can rent a deposit box from them. For a small annual fee, you can store your precious watches, jewelery or important documents in a metal box that will go into a safe room. Normally, rolex replika these deposit boxes are insured for a certain amount of money (ask for this!). This is perhaps the safest way to tuck away your watches when you’re planning to leave for an extended trip. However, if you’re someone who likes to regularly rotate the watches you wear, it might become annoying to go to the bank, go through the whole safe-visit pr...

5 tips for buying vintage watches

Whether you’re buying out of sentimentality — say, you want to own a watch from the year of your birth — or simply for investment purposes, education is the most important factor when it comes to buying, or collecting, vintage timepieces. During my last decade-plus with FratelloWatches, I have received numerous e-mails from people who’ve struggled with their purchase of a vintage watch; in nearly every reply to these e-mails, I have offered five bullet-point guidelines, which I will now share with you. 1. Don’t buy without investigation It is tempting to make an impulse purchase on a nice-looking vintage timepiece that you see in the window of an antiques dealer or watch shop. However, there are many traps you can fall into — traps of which even the seller may be unaware. replicas rolex So make sure to do your homework and learn about the watch you want to buy. You should only pull the trigger on a vintage timepiece when you have become something of an expert on a brand or specif...

How Snoopy Ended Up on an Omega Speedmaster Dial

It is no secret that besides writing about watches for FratelloWatches.com, I also love to collect watches — especially iconic watches like the Rolex GMT-Master, Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, Rolex Datejust and, of course, the Omega Speedmaster Professional. I own several of the last model. Ever since I bought my first Speedmaster (more than 15 years ago) I have been hooked on this watch. replicas rolex Not only do I love the design of this chronograph (one of the most clean chronograph dials around); I also like its connection to the Apollo space program. As you know, Omega has produced quite a few limited editions based on the original Speedmaster Professional. Some like these limited editions, others don’t. However, the fact is that some of these limited editions do appreciate in market value quite well after a few years. One of these models is the Omega Speedmaster Professional “Snoopy Award.” My professional career started around the time this model was introduced (2003), so it...

10 Classic Chronograph Movements

A while back, I wrote an article on my top 5 iconic chronograph watches. Some of you readers wondered why Zenith wasn’t in there. Quite simply, it didn’t make my personal Top 5. However, I do love the Zenith El Primero movement, and think that its reputation as a great chronograph caliber is well-earned. So, to make it up for some of you fellow watch nerds out there, here I focus specifically on chronograph movements rather than watches. One of my late, watch-loving friends had a special appreciation for chronographs and even ended all his e-mails with, “Chronographs, replicas breitling like most finer things in life, only improve with time.” If you want to know more about chronograph movements, and certain specific calibers, from a collector’s point of view, I recommend you read the interview I did with him several years ago (click here). Although it does not include the latest chronograph movements, it is still a useful article covering many important aspects of chronographs. A...

5 Ultra-Complicated Dive Watches

Most mechanical dive watches are priced under $10,000 (even though the iconic Rolex Deepsea, Sea-Dweller, and Submariner watches, as well as many Blancpain Fifty Fathoms models, might go for a bit more nowadays), but there are several types of fascinating dive watches that go way beyond that. Most of these are ultra-complicated watches, for collectors who either have the financial means to pay someone to go diving for them, or — on a more serious note — those who simply do not want to go for a swim while wearing a perpetual calendar from Patek Philippe or A. Lange & Söhne (which is as understandable as it is recommended). replicas omega Others are simply aimed at enthusiasts who appreciate high-end, robust watches (with more than a date for a complication) with the looks of a classical diver. Here are five that made my list. 1. IWC Aquatimer Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month (IW3794) This boutique-only perpetual calendar features a rubber-coated titanium case and a rose-g...

Kari Voutilainen Will Present the Voutilainen 28ti at WatchTime New York 2019

If you look too quickly at the latest release from Kari Voutilainen, you might be tricked into thinking its an entirely new timepiece for the Finnish watchmaking maestro. Given the name 28ti, the watch features a brand new execution for Voutilainen, yet it should feel quite familiar for the Kari faithful. If you haven’t guessed yet, that is because much of the watch’s movement — which is visible from the dial side, fake rolex kaufen  a first for Voutilainen — is taken from the Vingt-8 construction that is easily distinguishable due to the extra-large balance wheel found in the 28ti’s top-left corner. The Vingt-8 is likely the most well known Voutilainen timepiece and has been a part of the watchmaker’s catalog since 2011. When it was introduced eight years ago, it was the first Voutilainen watch to be fully designed, developed and produced in-house. For the 28ti, rather than feature a dial produced at Comblémine, Voutilainen’s industry-renowned dial workshop, the watch subver...

The Carl F. Bucherer Heritage BiCompax Annual

In late 2018, Carl F. Bucherer revealed the Tourbillon Double Peripheral Limited Edition as the launch point for the new Heritage Collection meant to commemorate the company’s 130-year history of involvement in the watch industry as a jeweler and watchmaker. According to the brand, rolex replika  the Heritage Collection would function as a tentpole range of exclusively limited-edition timepieces that feature a variety of complications. At Baselworld this year, the Lucerne-based firm unveiled the BiCompax Annual Chronograph, a new watch that comes in two different case materials and dial treatments.  Combining an annual calendar with a chronograph, the 41-mm watch is available in either stainless steel with a silver dial and a panda-style dial orientation or in two-tone rose gold with a rose-and-champagne dial. The annual calendar indicator eschews a day of the week and leap year display and instead only features a big date indicator in the upper half of the dial and a mo...

A Look at the Future of Swiss Watch Trade Shows

Two weeks ago, on April 14, Baselworld’s parent company MCH Group took note “with great surprise […] of the cancellation of major exhibitors at Baselworld,” namely Rolex, Patek Philippe, Chanel, Tudor, and Chopard. Two years before that, on July 30, 2018, the company’s former CEO René Kamm was already caught off guard by Swatch Group’s decision to leave the show: “The cancellation is all the more surprising for us because this news reaches us at a point in time when new management has arrived with a new team, new esprit and many new ideas.” In both cases, the company’s unfiltered public display of surprise was followed by the desire to either directly “contradict the representation” (July 30, 2018) of its former clients, or, more recently, by questioning the intentions of the aforementioned five brands. MCH Group’s latest response (April 14, 2020): replica uhren “The MCH Group must therefore conclude that the relevant plans [to leave Baselworld] have been in preparation for some t...

5 Iconic Watches from the Mind of Gérald Genta

Throughout his career, legendary watch designer Gérald Genta (1931-2011) created some of the most iconic models in the watch world, working with brands from Omega to Audemars Piguet and IWC and eventually establishing an independent brand (now absorbed into Bulgari, one of his other clients) making watches under his own name. It is a testament to the influence of his designs that his watches became hallmarks of their respective brands and remain popular watch styles. Below, replicas rolex we take a look at some of his most notable creations. 1. Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Genta presented his design for the Royal Oak to Audemars Piguet in 1970. As the story goes, Genta drew his design for the watch in one night, after being inspired by a diver wearing an old fashioned helmet attached to his suit by eight screws. This translated into the design of the watch, which features an octagonal shape with eight screws on the bezel. The octagonal design has remained even in the most recent inc...
