When it was originally envisioned in 1938, the first sport watch by Alpina had four key prerequisites: it had to be anti-magnetic, shock-resistant, water-resistant and rust-resistant.
The current Alpiner4 collection stays this course and expands with two new Alpiner4 Automatic models, both maintaining the design of the original and four time indications: hours, minutes, seconds and date orologi replica.
The new dials features, for the first time, horizontal lines with a sunray-brushed finish diffusing the light over their entire surface.
The 44 mm x 13.15 mm stainless steel cases alternate brushed and polished surfaces and are equipped with a bidirectional turning bezel with black markers. The watches are water resistant up to a pressure of 10 ATM (approximately 100 metres / 330 feet).
Luminescent applied hour markers and luminescent hour and minutes hands improve legibility in any light condition. The seconds hand ends with a red triangle shaped counterbalance that symbolises the Alpine peaks.
The first version features a forest green dial and flange and is matched to a three-link stainless steel bracelet with brushed and polished finishes.
The second variation comes with a grey dial for a vintage look that is emphasised by a brown leather strap with off-white topstitching and red lining.
The movement of choice is the AL-525 automatic calibre beating at the frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) and offering a power reserve of 38 hours. This movement is also resistant to a magnetic field of 4,800 A/m (Ampere/metre).
The new Alpina Alpiner4 Automatic ref. AL-525G5AQ6 with leather strap has a price of Euro 1,250 while the model with steel bracelet replica watches (ref. AL-525GR5AQ6B) retails at Euro 1,350.
