The Carrera Twin-Time 41 mm is one of our favourite models from the new generation of the Carrera Three Hands collection presented by TAG Heuer last October .
Characterised by an understated design, this model offers a useful GMT function for displaying two time zones at a glance combined to a striking blue dial. We recently had the opportunity to wear and test it for a few days and we are now delighted to share our impressions and pictures.
Measuring 41 mm x 12.30 mm and water resistant up to a pressure of 10 bar (approximately 100 metres / 30 feet), the classical round case is crafted from stainless steel with alternating fine-brushed and polished surfaces. The typical traits of the Carrera, fake uhren including the signature lugs (here only a bit shorter for improved comfort), are all there.
Framed by a slim bezel and well protected by a bevelled sapphire crystal with double anti-reflective treatment, the blue dial has a sunray-brushed finish and is circled by a bicolour flange (silver and blue) with a 24-hour scale that indicates day and night. Used in combination with the red-tipped GMT hand, it tells the time in a different timezone.
Readability - a feature that has always been a priority at TAG Heuer - is truly excellent. The applied indexes and the enlarged hour and minute hands are treated with white Super-LumiNova that glows in green in darker environment.
The bolder hour and minute hands feature groove down centre and tip filled in black. The rectangular date aperture at 6 o’clock completes the dial indications.
All functions can be easily controlled via the crown: in position 0 it winds the movement, in position 1 it sets the second time zone if you turn clockwise or the date if you turn anticlockwise, and in position 2 it adjusts the time.
The Carrera Twin-Time Date wears very well on most wrists (the one in our pictures is 18 cm / 7 in), also thanks to the recently introduced satin-brushed and polished bracelet with H-shaped links, thinner and more ergonomic. The refined bracelet is equipped with a folding clasp with double safety push-buttons.
Visible through the screw-down sapphire crystal caseback, the self-winding Calibre 7 is a movement that ensures precision and reliability. Beating at the frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), it has an autonomy, when fully wound, of about 50 hours.
While maintaining strong ties with its roots, this new model offers a modern and timeless design without superfluous details combining it to an attractive blue dial and a useful dual-time function.
